Suvidha Express

Suvidha Express trains are a series of special trains operated by Indian Railways during various festivals, holidays, summer vacations, and other peak travel seasons. The first Suvidha Express train ran in 2014.

These trains are introduced to handle the surge in passengers on busy routes when regular trains are at high demand. Unlike the Rajdhani or Shatabdi Express, Suvidha Express trains do not run year-round. They are announced only when required.

Suvidha Express Ticket Prices

Suvidha Express ticket prices follow a dynamic pricing system. This means fares go up as more seats are booked.

The fare starts at the applicable base fare + tatkal charges and increases as more seats are booked. Every time 20% of the seats are sold, the fare moves to the next pricing slab until it reaches the maximum limit.

The starting fare depends on the type of Suvidha Express service:

  • Fully AC Suvidha Express: Rajdhani base fare + Tatkal charges

  • Mixed Suvidha Express (Duronto pattern): Mixed Duronto base fare + Tatkal charges

  • Mixed Mail/Express Suvidha Express: Mail/Express base fare + Tatkal charges

The fare progression is as follows:

Seats Booked

Ticket Fare

First 20% of seats

Base fare + Tatkal charges

Next 20% of seats

1.5 × (Base fare + Tatkal charges)

Next 20% of seats

2 × (Base fare + Tatkal charges)

Next 20% of seats

2.5 × (Base fare + Tatkal charges)

Last 20% of seats

3 × (Base fare + Tatkal charges)

Note: Reservation charges, catering charges, superfast surcharge, GST, and other applicable charges are added separately wherever applicable.

Prices for different seat types also vary so please check Suvidha Express ticket prices on redBus before booking.
