Amrit Bharat Express

Indian Railways continuously focuses on improving connectivity throughout India. Keeping in mind the growing needs of passengers, Amrit Bharat Express was launched in December 2023. Amrit Bharat Express is a series of non-AC long-distance trains built to accommodate large crowds, particularly during migration peaks and festive travel rush. It follows a simple and fixed pricing system, and not dynamic ticket pricing.

The train includes a mix of 11 General and 8 Sleeper Class coaches, along with a Pantry Car and 2 specially designed guard vans that also cater to differently-abled passengers. The services of Amrit Bharat Express trains are aimed at offering a reliable, cost-effective, and comfortable journey for people who regularly depend on non-AC rail travel for daily needs and long-distance trips.

For every 500 KM, the ticket price for Amrit Bharat Express is roughly around ₹1,000. Short distances or medium-distance routes have a lower ticket price. The table below shows the base fare for second class and sleeper class based on the distance covered:

Amrit Bharat Express trains are built with modern features and facilities to ensure the comfort of passengers throughout the journey. Here are the striking features of Amrit Bharat Express:

• WAP-5 Locomotives

Amrit Bharat Express trains have WAP-5 locomotives. These are high-speed electric engines used at both ends of the train (push-pull system). The system helps in faster acceleration, smoother movement, and better comfort on long-distance routes.

• 22 Coaches (in each rake)

Each rake of Amrit Bharat Express has 22 coaches. These include General and Sleeper classes, which are designed to carry a large number of passengers.

• Space for Differently-Abled Passengers

Trains also have a dedicated space for differently-abled passengers. These are designed keeping in mind the comfort and easy access of passengers with disabilities.

• Mobile Charging Points

In each coach, multiple charging points are available so passengers can easily charge their mobile phones and other electronic devices during the journey. 

• Zero-Discharge Bio-Vacuum Toilets

All the trains of Amrit Bharat Express have zero-discharge bio-vacuum toilets to ensure environmental safety as well. These toilets do not release waste onto tracks but use bio-vacuum technology to treat waste.

• CCTV Cameras

Each coach has CCTV cameras to improve safety and security for passengers. The cameras are monitored throughout the journey.

• Fire Detection System

To detect smoke or fire, advanced smoke detection sensors are installed in trains to avoid fire accidents and ensure a quick emergency response.

• Emergency Talk-Back Units

In case of any emergency or assistance needed, passengers can use emergency talk-back units to directly connect with the train staff.
