Amber Fort
Amer fort is a UNESCO world heritage site and was the capital of Kachwahas of Amer. The capital was later moved to Jaipur. The fort’s construction was started under the rule of Raja Man Singh I in 1592, and it was completed by Mirza Raja Jai Singh. It is surrounded by Maota lake, which was meant to protect the people in case of an attack.
City Palace
The Jaipur city palace was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Singh II, and the foundation was laid in the 17 century after he decided to move the capital from Amer to Jaipur.
Hawa Mahal
One of the iconic monuments of Jaipur is the Hawa Mahal. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 and translates to Wind Palace. It has thousands of Jharokhas (windows) covering all five stories of the palace.
Jal Mahal
Jal Mahal creates one of the best views in Jaipur. Located between Man Sagar Lake, the palace is made from sandstone. It appears to be floating.
Jantar Mantar
Jaipur houses another UNESCO world heritage site- Jantar Mantar. It is the largest astronomical observatory built under the rule of Sawai Jai Singh II. It is designed to track time and celestial bodies and observe planets’ orbits around the sun.
Nahargarh fort
Located at Aravalli hills, the Nahargarh fort was constructed by Jai Singh in 1734. It was later expanded. Nahargarh means the home of the tiger, and it is one of the most formidable forts in India.
Albert Hall
Designed from the inspiration of the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, Albert Hall is a museum that was built around 1876. The museum houses a collection of miniatures brought from Bundi, Kota, Udaipur, Jaipur school of arts and Kishangarh.
Bisaldeo temple
The temple was founded by the Chahamana kingdom’s Vigraharaja IV in around 12th Century AD. Dedicated to Gokarna, the temple is situated near the Bisalpur Dam on the Banas River. It has been marked as a Monument of National Importance by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Galtaji
It is an old pilgrim centre that has many holy kunds around Ramgopalji- the local name for the sun god. It is near a beautiful gorge and has an amazing view of Jaipur city.
